Results of Happy Schools Programme
St Roses Catholic Infant School
April - July 2023
This 12-week programme ran during the Summer term 2023 at St Roses Catholic Infant school, Hemel Hempstead.
Two Year 1 classes and two smaller groups of Year 2 pupils took part in a 30-minute session each week which aimed to teach the children about their emotions, how to regulate them and feel good about themselves.
Teachers were asked to complete a Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) for 5 children at random from each class both before and after the intervention, and the results of this are shown below. While 20 questionnaires were completed ‘before’ the intervention, only 15 were completed ‘after’ and so the results below are based on the 15 children with both a before and after questionnaire.
The categories for the SDQ were defined by a UK-wide survey, and range from ‘close to average’ to ‘very high’ which indicates a child is scoring much more poorly than the UK average.
